Master Your Time, Master Your Impact
Time blocking changes everything
Hey CS Pros,
Ever feel like your entire day is just reacting to emails, Slack messages, and last-minute requests? It’s frustrating when you have high-impact work to do, but there never seems to be enough time for it.
That’s where time blocking comes in. Instead of letting your day control you, time blocking helps you control your day. It’s a simple but powerful habit: you schedule dedicated time for your most important work and treat it like a real meeting.
And no, this isn’t just about work—it’s a life skill. If you’ve ever said, “I wish I had more time,” this is how you create it.
Let’s break down how you can use time blocking (specifically with Google Calendar) to focus on what matters most, from strategic thinking to revenue-generating activities.
But first, today’s sponsor

1. More Control, Less Chaos
When you time block, you’re no longer at the mercy of your inbox. Instead of getting pulled in a hundred directions, you decide in advance what deserves your focus. Need time to prepare for a QBR? Block it out. Want to finally work on that customer expansion strategy? Schedule it.
This isn’t just about work—it’s a habit that can transform your entire life. From planning workouts to making time for family, time blocking helps you prioritize what matters.

2. Revenue-Focused Activities Win the Day
Customer Success is no longer just about retention; it’s about revenue. If you’re trying to hit your NRR goals this year, time blocking can help.
Block out specific time for:
Strategic thinking about your customer accounts
Identifying upsell and expansion opportunities
Preparing for renewal conversations in advance
If it’s not in your calendar, it’s not a priority. Make revenue-generating work a non-negotiable part of your schedule.
You’re doing great work—make sure it doesn’t go unnoticed. Set aside time every week to track your accomplishments. This could be:
Documenting customer success stories
Tracking expansion revenue influenced
Capturing customer feedback you helped implement
When performance reviews or promotion conversations come up, you won’t be scrambling to remember what you did. You’ll have a clear record of your impact.
4. Don’t Just Block Time—Set an Agenda
A common mistake? Blocking time in your calendar with the title “busy.” That’s not enough.
Instead, treat these blocks like real meetings. When you schedule time for strategic work, add an agenda:
What are you going to accomplish?
What’s the outcome you’re working toward?
What are the key action items?
This keeps you accountable and ensures that time is well spent.
1️⃣ Time blocking gives you control. Instead of letting distractions run your day, you decide what deserves your time.
2️⃣ Revenue-generating activities need dedicated time. Block out time for strategic work, renewal prep, and expansion planning—it’s how you hit your NRR goals.
3️⃣ Track and share your wins. Set aside time weekly to document your impact and showcase your value to leadership.
Start small: Open your Google Calendar right now and block out 30 minutes for high-impact work this week. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish when you own your time.
